Signblazer Fixes 2
If you downloaded the free SignBlazer stencil cutting software that I showed you in the Glass Etching Secrets Manual, you may have realized that a pop up opens looking for updates. This is not only annoying, but it is also unnecessary because there are no updates available because the company isn’t around anymore. So I included a quite tutorial to fix this below. You still need to follow my steps explained in the manual for using the free version.
Follow the steps and pictures below:
- Right click the desktop shortcut icon for the Signblazer cutting software. Then click Properties to open the pop up window.
- Click the Shortcut tab when the pop up window opens and look for the Target preference is. In the Target preference box, change the sb.exe to sbnt.exe. Then click save.
And that’s all you need to do. When you open Signblazer, the annoying pop up asking to search for updates will no longer happen and it will save you some time. Got a question? Leave if below and I will get back to you.
Signblazer Fixes
Okay, if you have downloaded the stencil cutter software, SignBlazer Elements which I showed you how to get for free in the Glass Etching Secrets manual, you may have realized it automatically creating .pvw files on your computer.
I have been annoyed with this for some time, but just recently looked into. I haven’t seen a perfect fix yet (there was an update that fixed this from the company’s website, but its not there anymore) since the company of SignBlazer is no longer in existence but this will solve the problem.
This .pvw file is known as a preview file and for some reason the software automatically saves it from every single image on your computer from the folder your viewing. So if you have a bunch of images on the desktop of your computer and your importing a vector file from there, it will create .pvw files for all the images.
You can fix this by disabling the preview feature when importing files. Follow the pictures and instructions below:
- Go to File and Import just like you always do when starting a project.
- On the bottom right side in the pop up window, check mark the box that says “No Previews”. Although this fixes the problem, it doesn’t allow you to preview which image is the one you want when importing. You have to remember what the file name is called then.
