I do not CUT glass bottles, I did that in the great ol “70s. with a K TEL lol
Now every bottle, I mask and blast off..takes about the same amount of time considering after the cut, you must sand/polish.
Also by blasting off the top I can use any design when blasting..not just a straight boring cut.
One of my designs…I scanned a wood cutting saw blade, cut on hard vinyl.., now the blast looks like the saw teeth.wavy

I also picked up several years back, wine and beer bottles that I slump in kiln, remove flamable label, then slump to about .5 inch thick, where the label was..is now an area to blast message.
My best sellers of slumped wine bottles is “WELL I GUESS YOU SUCKED THE SH*T OUTTA THIS ONE”
I sell for $50.00 cash, xmas is a blast…no pun intended. These will keep me busy for the month of December

Larry, I must say you have some really cool ideas and projects. The glass slumping is something I’ve wanted to get into.
Have you heard much about those smaller microwavable kilns?
Hi Eric, no I have not heard re microwave slump…keeping in mind temp for some time is 1500-1800f, heat up time and cool down times are VERY critical. ! kiln will hold 7 med to lg bottles, small kiln holds 5. Start to finish with either special paper or powder 3 days. Also 220 amp service…and takes a lot of juice (220 + Time)
I know you can weld with converted microwave. Also MUST KEEP IN MIND a microwave WILL RETAIN A CHARGE EVEN THOUGH IT IS OFF OR EVEN UNPLUGGED.
I just finished slumping 19 old clear COKE bottles..50-60 years old, the slump retained most of COKE A COLA logo, bas relief. I will touch up logo a little with diamond. Min $ 75 ea.. The several I have sold..says IE: Larry goes better with……
