Back when I was putting together a lot of great resources on where to get good glass etching designs to use in the member’s area here, I tested one of these basic designs shown below. The pattern was designed by Art on Glass but they don’t seem to be selling the designs for use anymore. I still wanted to show that surface etchings can still look great with a good design.
As you can see, this is actually a fairly basic design which is more suitable for surface etching. It shows two frogs on lillypads in a pond. I etched this with sandblasting.
Do you etch with surface etching style patterns like this?
Also, does anyone create their own patterns?
It would be great to hear how other folks use patterns in the comments below. Hopefully soon, I will put together a tutorial on how to make your own patterns based off a picture. That is the process I used for some of the free patterns I provide here.

It is absolutely wonderful. I will be waiting for the tutorial on how to make your own patterns
Please keep me informed

Sandblasting is the way to go! I like to try and keep things simple, including designs. Your frog on a lily pad looks great with a consistent, smooth finish. This shows professional results in sandblasting. I enjoy doing designs similar to this as well as graphics with little more detailed work. Since I am not really an artist, I rely on pre-made stencils and free clip art online for my projects. I started out cutting stencils by hand, however I now use a Cricut cutting machine for this purpose. Also wish to add that I appreciate your tips and advice regarding etching, engraving and sandblasting. Thank you so much.
