Recently, a new technology machine has been released which uses lasers to etch or engrave the labels into the fruit or vegetables. I read about this at psfk.com. The device is a new energy efficient laser beam that can make the labels into produce which can replace the use of paper labels.
If you think about, those paper labels need the adhesive material, the paper material itself, and the ink for the markings on the paper. Do you think this is good for the environment?
I agree with psfk.com that it’s too much of a waste, but is the benefit large enough? This laser etching method seems to be a good way to stop using all those materials for each and every piece of fruit or vegetables.
Right now, the laser etching is being used through many other countries, but is going through examination in the United States. I will try and let everyone know here when the FDA approves it.
