More information sent to me
It looks like a great cutter but I more interested in etching and blasting on different glass products with various stencils or pictures. These are items that I etch on for different customers and sell. Appreciate any other things I could learn from you that I could use.
Thanks,
Joanie Beck
The top of the bottle rests on the rollers. Does the bottom of the bottle rest on the screw that adjusts the depth?
Hi Eric,
Thank you for all the videos you have sent me,
I like loocking at them and am going to again and again,
Merry Cristmas to you too and a happy new year🎄🕯
Hi Eric Thanks for sending all the videos, they were very interesting, however I noticed on your two glass cutter ads you don’t say or show a way to smooth the edges of the bottle once it’s been cut; could be a little dangerous if the edges are not smoothed down before someone attempts to drink from it. as I get time I will try and comment on some of your other videos–oh your new glass cutter is a really good design thanks ed
@Joan, that is understandable. I’ll have plenty of info on those subjects. I try to get info on all types of glass crafts.
@Nick, great question! Our instructions advise that the user pressures down with their hand in between the rollers which keeps it upright. It’s designed this way so that when the back brace is flipped for shorter bottles or shorter cuts, that the rollers will still fit. We may improve it with more rollers in the future, but with the downward pressure and the neck of the bottle balances it in place.
@Elisabet, thank you! YOu too!
@Ed, the cutter comes with an instruction booklet that discusses this. You simply use the sandpaper provided or use my idea here: https://www.glassetchingsecrets.com/blog/sanding-edges-cut-bottles/
Went to look at the bottle cutters on Amazon n it says currently unavailable. There goes that idea, been looking all over S Africa for a bottle cutter!!!
@anita, thanks for your interest. We recently went out of stock and should have more in about two weeks. Though we don’t currently ship the s Africa due to the high cost of shipping. You can make one of these though. I wrote free plans on how to do it here https://www.glassetchingsecrets.com/blog/home-made-bottle-cutter/
We just received your kit and it is put together correctly but a 12 oz. corona extra beer bottle will not fit between rollers so as to apply pressure evenly in order for it to be scored.
Need your help.
Thanks.
Felice
@Felice, thank you so much for your purchase. If it doesn’t fit, you will have the position the cutter blade down more. Out of the box, they should be down enough for beer bottles, but I have been instructing folks to move it up to make it easier to score most bottles. I will follow up via email also. Thanks!
I have been searching all over the web to find someone that will ship to Australia, with no luck.
I really want one of these! Please help….
I have just receive mine in the post and have tried it. The base pads to prevent skid are very good. The concept and design is quite good but there are some drawbacks: a) in the assembly, and b) in the adjustment possibilities wrt rollers and the back brace and track, and the anchoring of the rollers. The rollers are not all installed at the right distance. The track and back plate should be more adjustable for size and distance (could need a longer base plate. Also, there should be more than one insert for the tightening knob. As well, there should be a rubber washer under the tightening knob for easier tightening.
Questions: 1) can I purchase more rollers? 2) can I purchase more cutter blades?
thanks, P. Vallee
@Joseph, I apologize for the delay. Thank you for the feedback and we are working to improve it further as you suggested.
We offer additional blades but currently out of stock- we hope to be back in stock soon. We can offer more rollers if needed as well.
I can let you know soon. Thank you
