One of our Facebook group and newsletter subscribers recently sent me some pictures of his beautifully engraved and etched framed glass canvases! He offered to post them here, and I thought they were neat framed art.
These are completed and photographed by William Kolsteren with various techniques.
The first two are sandblast etchings with a symbol and a dragon. The third picture is engraved with a rotary engraving tool showing two wolves, which I thought was really cool.

They are absolutely gorgeous! How did you get such fine detail? I am trying to learn, but the detailed pictures are very difficult. I want to do something like that for my mother for Christmas. I have a picture, but cant seem to figure out how to make a detailed stencil. Any suggestions?

The wolves are beautiful. I’ve done some sandblast etching and carving, but I haven’t done any rotary etching. I can only imaging that it is much harder to control? What type of tool do you use?
Great work! Thank you for sharing.
William, I just saw in an above comment where you answered what type of rotary tool you used. Thank you.

Wonderful work of art,
Thanks for the beautiful pieces, how do you creat the shading effect on the wolves, i can’t get the light and dark effects. I’m just learning and greatful for any assistance I can get. I use a high speed dremel with diamond bits.
Hope to try to come close to your great talent in years to come.
Bob
What a talent! Your work is amazing. Just starting to etch, only hope I will be half as good. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Bob Thanks for your comments and interest. To shade on glass is the same as shading with a pencil on paper. You can only shade faster with a high rpm rotary tool good luck.William
Awesome work! My favorite is the Dragon. They are all so detailed. Good luck in all that you do.
Beautiful work William !! Question — how did you get the second color (i.e. gold), on your sandblasted Dragon ?
WOW! That is amazing!
If you haven’t all ready you should be having your own exibit!!
William, Awesome works!!!!
I would like to know done the golden shading on Dragon ?
Love the Wolves. Have done something similar by Etching an Owl and placing it in a frame.
I have never combine a carving tool though or colors, and find the technique fascinating.
Keep up the beautiful work.
William, simply fantastic.
You’re surely created master piece art works!!!!
